In fact, this program seems to be a limited version of a general-purpose DVD video ripper. The interface still shows evidences of this. For example, the buttons Angle and Subtitle are completely useless because we are dealing with audio output. In addition, the panes Stream and Picture are evidently empty.
The program supports several types of video sources, such as discs, DVD folders, ISO images and IFO files. You can also download DVD information from the Internet. If the DVD video has several audio tracks, you should select the one you are interested in ripping. At this point, you can also preview the file, and while you do this, you can take snapshots of your favorite frames. After this, you can select a conversion profile. Although the program comes with a set of profiles, if you are not satisfied with them, you can create a customized one. You are not limited to using a single conversion profile because the program supports using multiple profiles for the same source file.
To sum up, Xilisoft DVD Audio Ripper can carry out its function very well. However, its main drawback is derived from its limited range of output formats. Nowadays, most DVD rippers can extract either video or audio; so there is no need to buy an application exclusively intended for DVD audio ripping.
